Sameta High School are the new Kisii County secondary school games boys’ football champion.

Enjoying the support of their principal Daniel Murumbe, Sameta thrashed Ong’icha 4-0 in a one-sided final played at Nduru Boys. •

The diminutive Kalangungi, who terrorised the Ong’icha defence throughout the game, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

“The boys played as per my instructions and entertained fans with total football,” said Sameta coach Junior Nyabuto.

However, Ong’icha appealed against Sameta, claiming they fielded an ineligible player.

Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports Association secretary Geoffrey Nyantika said the appeal will be heard by the county's education director Phillip Chirchir next week. Chirchir was the chief guest during the three-day championship.
