Information Communication Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has urged Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia to assert authority at the regional and continental competitions.

Owalo said the traditional Kenyan behemoths have proven their mettle as continental title contenders after tucking away back-to-back top-flight silverware on the local front.

The CS made the remarks while hosting the club at a luncheon at the Carnivore Restuarant in Nairobi on Monday.

"Go out there and replicate what the 1987 class did by winning the Mandela Cup," Owalo remarked.

"Mine is to congratulate the team for making us proud one more time by winning the league, the management and the fans," he added.

Owalo divulged a long-term plan to put up a clubhouse for K'Ogalo, saying this would ease the pressure on players who fret about accommodation while plying trade for the side.

"Gor Mahia will get a clubhouse with a training pitch so that players are not worried about where to stay" Owalo stated.

He urged the current crop of players to remain at the club and help battle for more trophies in the coming seasons.

"Moving forward, we need to work together and strengthen the team ahead of the Cecafa Kagame Cup and the Caf Champions League," Owalo said.

"I wish to urge the players to stick together as we eye more titles in the coming months," he added.

Club honcho Ambrose Rachier lavished praise on CS Owalo for supporting the club through thick and thin.

"I'd like to thank the CS for being there for us all the time. We thank him for hosting us. When one of us sold our bus, he came to our rescue and bought us a new one," Rachier stated.

"We also thank our sponsors Sportpesa and Azzam. We thank the technical bench for your dedicated service," he concluded.
