Tusker FC’s interim coach Charles Okere has termed their week-long pre-season tour of Uganda a huge success.

“It has been a hugely successful week and we have managed to see where we are as a team. We played three friendly matches and every player had at least 60 minutes of action. This is very key for us to allow everyone to show what they can do,” said interim coach Charles Okere.

He added: “Now we are going back home two weeks before the season starts and we know what to do and which areas to improve ahead of the the season.”

Tusker started the Uganda tour with a 1-0 win over Soltilo Bright Stars on Tuesday,  before replicating the same scoreline against Stanbic Uganda Cup champions Kitara FC in Masindi.

They concluded the week-long tour of Uganda with a 1-1 draw against Premier League side, Lugazi FC at their home ground in the Buikwe District in Central Uganda on Saturday.

Joseph Mwangi scored Tusker’s opener, while Samuel Ssemagugu levelled matters for the newly promoted Uganda Premier League side just before halftime.

Against Lugazi, coach Okere changed the whole team from the one that played in Kitara. The Brewers had a brilliant start with Mwangi scoring the opener in the 15th minute. Ssemagugu equalised for the hosts with a minute to the break. Tusker would have increased the tally but Thomas Omole and Mike Oduor blew their chances.

Tusker has already beefed up their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The new signings include Jacob Onyango, Dennis Wanjala, George Kaddu, Thomas Omole, Joseph Ochuka, Boban Zirintus, Eric Balecho and Dennis Wanjala.

Tusker will open their 2024/25 campaign on August 24 against Sofapaka at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
