Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have landed the signature of South Sudan national team captain Peter Maker on a two-year deal.
The towering defender, 1.98 metres tall, said he was thrilled to join the 12-time Kenyan champions and pledged to help them win the title this year.
During his unveiling ceremony at a Nairobi hotel, Maker expressed joy at the prospect of donning the cherished Ingwe jersey.
"Joining this wonderful club with such a rich history makes me happy and grateful. It is a pleasure to be here with excellent staff and teammates. I am excited to be part of this incredible team," Maker said.
"I have observed a lot of talent in this squad since the first day I trained with them. We have had an excellent preseason, and the team has a lot of promising players. We are prepared to contend for the league this season," he added.
He urged the ardent Ingwe fans to fill the stands to the rafters during their season opener against Mathare United at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
"I cannot wait to see every AFC Leopards fan in the stadium on Sunday, everyone. I want to enjoy this season with you because you are the best fans in the nation.
Born on January 1, 1994, Maker is expected to bolster the talent-laden AFC Leopards defence.
In addition to having played for Zesco United in Zambia, Radnicki Mitrovica of Serbia, Amarat United, Juba, South Sudan, and Al Dhara in Dubai, Peter has earned 24 caps for his country.
