Motsepe satisfied with Kenya's preps for Chan 2025, Afcon 2027

CAF president Patrice Motsepe is satisfied with Kenya’s preparations for the 2025 African Nations Championship and the 2027 Cup of Nations.

Motsepe landed on Sunday for a two-day visit and went to the ground immediately with an inspection tour of Moi Stadium, Kasarani, Nyayo Stadium and Talanta City.

He was led by Cabinet Secretary for Sports Kipchumba Murkomen, Sports Kenya Director Pius Metto and Football Kenya Federation president, Nick Mwendwa and . They also visited the new 60,000 seater Talanta  City stadium at Jamuhuri, Nairobi.

Motsepe was accompanied by Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa.

The two assured the continental football supremo that Kenya will meet set timeline — December. 

But despite his optimism, Motsepe wants better turf on the Nyayo and Kasarani pitches, insisting on greener Fifa-approved grass. He wants the pitches levelled, with uniform and clear white markings.

Motsepe is confident the East African trio of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will pull through successful championships.

“I will personally pay a visit in Decembe. I will come to once more assess the progress. I'm confident the process will be ongoing well. I will also head to Uganda and Tanzania,” Motsepe said.

CS Murkomen promised to ensure the East African nations deliver the best African tournament. 

“This stadium, as we promised, will be delivered to you before December... by the end of November, to make sure it is ready to host Chan in February (2025). As you can see, every effort is being spent to ensure we are ready,” said Murkomen.
