A Task Force formed to explore ways and means of turning AFC Leopards into a corporate entity will tour Tanzanian giants Yanga and Simba next week.

The Task Force, led by chairman Vincent Shimoli, will benchmark how the two Tanzanian Premier League sides have managed to stay financially stable.

Other members are Alex Muteshi (treasurer), Richard Ekhalie (secretary), Laureen Aseka (assistant secretary), Nelly Mwashi, Ng’arua, Bramwell Aino and Clarence Jumbo.

Four individuals will travel including three from the Task Force and one club official.

The trip has been financed by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Minister for Foreign Affairs Musalia MUdavai, who donated Sh2m.

Mudavadi, a former club patron, has for long advocated for structural changes at Leopards.

“His donation will help the Task Force — who have set a Sh5m budget — cover logistics for the Tanzania trip and subsequent member engagements,” said Muteshi.

Yanga and Simba, the most popular clubs in Tanzania, boast huge fan bases of between 15 and 20 million. In addition, they have strong sponsors and well-wisher support.

Fans hold a 51 per cent stake with investors controlling 49 per cent. This move has helped the clubs attract investments in their squads and facilities while securing their future.

Leopards are keen to emulate this model as they target financial stability through various revenue streams including the sale of merchandise, TV rights and kit sponsorships.

"As the club transitions into a corporate, we hope to observe transparency, strengthen ties with sponsors and deepen fan engagement through membership opportunities," Shimoli said.

Meanwhile, the Task Force will - between October and December - embark on an outreach campaign to inform their fans of the significance of going corporate.
