Bandari head coach Ken Odhiambo believes the coastal side could pull off a major surprise this season as they eye a maiden Kenyan Premier League title.

The dockers fell short of glory despite plunging vast resources into the transfer market in the preceding season.

Odhiambo, appointed at the beginning of the season, believes they can brush aside their disappointment and successfully charge for the coveted silverware.

However, they will not put all their eggs in one basket. as they intend to extend their aspirations to the FKF Cup. Either title will guarantee them a place on the continental stage.

“We are going full throttle for the KPL title which we narrowly missed out on last season. We want to register a better performance after finishing in the top five. We can do a lot better this season. We have a talent-laden squad that can get us there," he said.

Odhiambo said they will build upon their impressive start to the season where they have registered a win and managed a draw thus far.

“Going by the results of our first two matches, we can't say we are badly off. We are within the top five and I believe this is enough motivation for us to step on the gas pedal and heighten our aspirations," he said.

Bandari have blown hot and cold over the years and their best performance was in 2009 when they clinched the FKF Shield trophy and punched a ticket to the Caf Confederation Cup where they exited in the first round.

"We are fired up and ready to battle for a space on the continental stage. We have a dozen experienced players who possess the expertise to battle on that front," he said.
