KCB head coach Patrick Odhiambo has tipped bankers to extend their winning streak against Ulinzi Stars at the Police Sacco Stadium on Sunday.

The bankers have made a strong start in the 2024/2025 Kenya Premier League, winning two of their three opening matches.

They opened the campaign with a draw against Kariobangi Sharks but followed it up with back-to-back wins over Murang’a Seal (2-0) and Posta Rangers (3-0).

Odhiambo is expected to turn to Farouk Shikhalo, Kevin Okumu, Haniff Wesonga, Lameck Oloo and Herit Mungai to anchor the defence.

Dennis Maruti, Maurice Ojwang and Farraj Ominde will manage the midfield, while Joshua Nyatini, Francis Kahiro and Patrick Odhiambo lead the attack.

"If we are to compete, we need to keep up this momentum. We must put in more effort and stay focused in each match and right now, our focus is on Ulinzi. Lameck Oloo has settled well in defence and we’re pleased with how he has been performing," said goalkeeper Shikhalo, who has been instrumental in KCB’s strong start.

Shikhalo has kept three clean sheets in three matches. During a training session at the KCB Leadership Centre in Karen, Odhiambo acknowledged the challenge Ulinzi Stars pose but remains confident.

"Ulinzi are strong opponents. We expect a tough game since they’ve had a tough start to the season. We are working on correcting the mistakes from our last fixture," said Odhiambo.

"The team is in high spirits and scoring has boosted the squad’s confidence. The players are expressing themselves more in training and I hope we can maintain this form."

In contrast, Ulinzi Stars have played twice, drawn and lost a match apiece while scoring two goals and conceding three.

They opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Murang'a Seal and drew 2-2 with Shabana at home to Shabana on Sunday.
