Nzomo wins 'Lungs for Kenya' charity golf tourney in Karen

The Kcb-sponsored tournament brought together a field of over 100 golfers.

Raphael Nzomo was crowned the overall winner of nature 'Lungs for Kenya' charity golf tournament at the lush par 72 Karen Country Club on March 31.

The Kcb-sponsored tournament brought together a field of over 100 golfers. African Aviation Chief Executive Officer Nzomo,  carded an impressive score of 41 points after a countback to clinch victory.

Jason Gibson claimed the man-winner award after also carding 41 points to beat the closest challenger Andrew Njoba who carded 40 points to finish second.

Stella Kariuki was named the overall lady winner with 41 points.

Nzomo said: "I am overwhelmed to be named overall winner of the tournament as it will contribute to conserving our environment. The funds raised will go a long way in supporting Kenya's efforts for climate action. I can attribute my victory to good preparation. My swing was there and my first nine and back nine performance was exemplary," he said.

The contingent of Joel Wainaina, Stella Kariuki and Robert Wakaba clinched the team winners award with 110 points. 

In the nearest to the pin category, Emmanuel Ageng'o and Gitonga Akinyi were victorious in the men and women categories respectively.

Kcb recognises the importance of integrating climate change measures into national policies and strategies.

By supporting the 'Lungs for Kenya' campaign, the bank demonstrated its commitment to catalysing the growth of trees and maintaining ecosystem services to fight climate change and increase water quantity in the country's environs.
