Over 200 golfers to grace East Africa Golf Tour in Kigali

Top pros and amateur golfers will swing into action on Saturday as the morning action is expected to tee off at 6:00 am while the afternoon tee will get underway at 12:00 pm in the capital city of Rwanda.

Over 200 golfers are expected to headline the East Africa Golf Tour at the 18-hole Kigali Golf course this weekend.

Top pros and amateur golfers will swing into action at 6:00 am on Saturday while the afternoon tee will get underway at 12:00 pm.

The series which will host 132 players has so far seen 12 teams qualify for the much-awaited Pro-Am grand finale event at the Karen Country Club on November 24.

One team from Rwanda will join the party as the showdown approaches.

Recently a team comprising Jackson Musomba, Simon Kimatu, Ben Mumo, Francis Mbithi, Joseph Malatu, Francis Musembi, Kyalo Munyao, and Engineer Okemwa sealed their places in the grand finale at the par 72 Machakos Golf Club.

BPR Bank's Albert Akimanzi said: “The Tour aims to onboard all the golf enthusiasts across the East African region in a bid to expand the sport. The Rwanda edition gives us an opportunity for budding golfers to showcase their prowess while enjoying themselves in the beautiful Kigali golf course.''

Kigali Golf Club captain Andrew Kulayige said: “We welcome the KCB East Africa Golf Tour to the land of a thousand hills for an epic golf tournament on Saturday."

''We have kept our course neat and ready for the event as one team hunts for the grand finale spot. I urge golfers from within the city and its environs to sign up for this competition which will, without a doubt, position Kigali as a sports hub. We look forward to the grand finale and hopefully, our team will emerge victorious.

The Tour will proceed to the 18-hole Nyali Golf Club on November 4.
