Chelogoi seeks redemption as he heads for Entebbe Open tourney

Kenya’s professional golfer Andrew Chelogoi seeks to redeem his swing as he heads to the the Entebbe Open tournament starting today at the par 72 Entebbe Golf Club.

The Eldoret pro leads seven other Kenyan professional golfers in the search of the title which is flooded by hosts players in the four-day 72-hole extravaganza that tees off today and ends Saturday.

Chelogoi said he had a bad day in the second round of the Uganda Open last week, which he wants to amend at the Entebbe show.

''I collapsed in the second round at the Uganda Open but I want to play well here in Entebbe to redeem myself,'' said Chelogoi.

He said he had a good game only that he missed a few steps that saw him fail to make the cut into the prize category.

“I have had good training and I hope to build on it by trying to play better golf,” said Chelogoi. The winner in the event will pocket Sh250,000

According to the draw released on Tuesday morning, Chelogoi will tee off at 10:40 am alongside Ugandan Henry Lujja and Emma Ogwang.

“This will be my second 72-hole tournament this year after the Uganda Open,” said Chelogoi.

Former Eldoret pro-Borniface Simwa will be the first Kenyan on the tee at 10:00 a.m in the company of Deo Akope and Ronald Otile.

Kevin Mabele will face off with Marvin Kabiringe and Dennis Anguyo at 10:30 am.

Vet Lab’s Nelson Mudanyi will be at the tee box at 11:00 am alongside Said Mawa and Vincent Byamukana.

Other Kenyan pros include Abdhallah Sanzagala, Samuel Chege, Jacob Okello, and Justus Madoya.

Sanzagalla tees off at 11:10 am in the company of Grace Kasango and Ronald Bukenya before Chege takes off with Canary Kabise and Rodell Gaita ten minutes later.

Okello will start his journey at 11:40 am alongside Uganda Open first runner-up Ronald Rugumayo and James Koto as Madoya completes the draw at 12:20 pm alongside Adolf Muhumuza and Ashraf Bagalana.
