Over  200 golfers are expected to feature at the 16th leg of the ongoing KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the lush par 72 Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa this weekend.

The golfers will be seeking to secure a chance to participate in the Pro-Am Grand Finale that has been postponed to December 15 at the Karen Country Club in Nairobi.

Two teams from the Nyali edition will join 13 others that have already booked their places in the much-anticipated Finale, where top pros and amateurs will compete for various prizes.

Recent additions to the roster, including players like Jackson Musomba, Simon Kimatu, Ben Mumo, Francis Mbithi, Joseph Malatu, Francis Musembi, Kyalo Munyao, and Engineer Okemwa from the Machakos Golf Club, have further heightened the competition.

Nyali Golf Club Captain Dinesh Sasan expressed the club's enthusiasm for the tournament.

"We have been working on our greens since we received confirmation that we would be part of the KCB Golf series. Excitement and anticipation are building among the golfers from within this region and they can't wait to brave the greens to compete for the top honors. We are looking forward to this tournament."

In addition to the competitive rounds, the event will feature a ladies' and juniors' golf clinic on Sunday morning.

Furthermore, a tree planting session will take place in line with KCB's commitment to sustainability, a core focus of the tournament series.

KCB Group marketing and communications director, Rosalind Gichuru highlighted the significance of including Nyali as the venue.

“It is important for us to give an opportunity to golfers within the coastal region to be part of this tour because we do not want to leave anyone behind. Our aim is to expand the sport and contribute to its growth as we believe in the power of talent,'' said Gichuru.

''We expect a huge turnout in Nyali as we gear up for the Grand Finale that will mark the end of this year’s series,'' she added.

The last stage of the KCB Golf Series will be held at the Nandi Bears Club in two weeks’ time after the Nyali edition.
