The veteran fended off a tough challenge from Moses Muthoki, whom he beat on countback.

“I'm delighted to qualify for the grand finale of the NCBA Golf Series. It was a challenging play, but the hard work paid off. I'm looking forward to competing with the best and giving it my all in November. This opportunity means a lot to me. I’m excited to see what lies ahead," said Waweru.

NCBA's Tirus Mwithiga said: "We’re delighted to be back on this course after a two-year hiatus. The beauty and challenge of this venue make it a standout and we hope to make Nanyuki Sports Club a regular fixture in our series. This region has so much to offer and we are excited about the prospect of serving you and continuing to grow together.

“Today’s event has been a testament to the incredible talent and passion found here. The level of skill, determination and sportsmanship displayed on the course was nothing short of inspiring.”

Meanwhile, the bank — under the Change The Story initiative — planted and donated over 100 indigenous trees at the Nanyuki Sports Club.

This aims at supporting environmental conservation and enhancing the club's green spaces.

The series heads to the Royal Nairobi Golf Club qualifier on September 28.
