Fallen giants, Impala seek to revive their lost glory in this weekend's Christie Sevens at the RFUEA ground.

The former Kenya Cup champions, who have been on a downward spiral in the last couple of years, have been handed a tough pool where they face on-form Kabras, Nakuru and Masinde Muliro University in Pool A.

The Ngong-Road outfit missed the opening two legs of the circuit in Kisumu and Mombasa due to a lack of finances.

The club returned to play at the Prinsloo Sevens in Nakuru, where they finished 13th in the Division Two category.

Club chairman Steve “Seniormost” Obondi is expecting an improvement from his team despite the tough pool.

“We played our first tournament over the weekend in Nakuru and now we need to replicate that against the form teams in the competition and be competitive,” added Obondi.

Kabras coach Felix Ayange said his side will be up to the challenge of going after a third consecutive tournament.

“Consistency is key. We have to be at our best and we are not taking anything for granted. We have three more tournaments to go and we will take one game at a time," said Ayange.

Hosts Quins top Pool B and have a date against Homeboyz, Daystar Falcons, and Blak Blad. Coach Paul Murunga has warned his charges to expect a stern test from a tricky pool.

“The top three teams we are facing are all quality teams. Blak Blad gave us a scare last week in Nakuru, Daystar are improving and Homeboyz will always put up a fight. It's going to be exciting and we can't wait," said Murunga.

KCB headline Pool 'C' and take on Strathmore Leos, Catholic Monks, and Kisumu. Assistant coach Dennis Mwanja has backed his charges to bounce back after losing to rivals Kabras in the semifinal.

Mwanja said the team will fight hard and will not give up on the chase despite lying seven points adrift of current leaders Kabras Sugar who top the standings with 63 points.

We are always challenging…we bite, scratch, and claw our way into every win. We don’t lie down and play dead…historically, we have always been giving a good account of ourselves,” Mwanja said.

Pool 'D' will see Menengai Oilers face Mwamba, Nondies, and Sigalagala University battle out.
