Mwamba RFC will be aiming to break the jinx of quarterfinal exits at next weekend's Tisap Sevens in Eldoret.

The side, known as Kulabu, have failed to go past the quarters in four tournaments of the National Sevens Circuit and head coach Peter Kepher believes their fortunes will change in Eldoret next week.

“It's something we need to change come the Tisap Sevens. We have been very consistent in reaching the quarters of the four tournaments played so far and now we are looking at getting past the quarters, play in the semis or the final, or better still, win a tournament," said Kepher.

The tactician said they have been working on their attack, which has been an area of concern especially when they play in the knockout games on Day Two.

“We dominate possession but we don't convert the possession into points, which does not auger well for the Sevens game,” said Kepher.

Mwamba are sixth on the log with 44 points and Kepher believes his charges can finish in the top five come the end of the campaign at next month's Kabeberi Sevens.

Kabras are top of the table with 80 points, two ahead of KCB while Quins are third with 56.

"We have a good chance to move up the standings, especially if we can get past the last eight and play in the semis or final of the remaining two tournaments,” observed Kepher.

Kepha will also be banking on youngsters Alois Wasonga, Ezra Mochabo and Moses Keragori with six players away with the Kenya Sevens training squad for the Olympic qualifiers.

They include Billy Odhiambo, Brian Mutugi, Ronnie Omondi, Tony Omondi, Daniel Taabu and Stephen Sikuta.

Kepher believes there is depth in the squad to cope with the absence of their top stars.

"We have a good bunch of youngsters who have had a taste of elite Sevens rugby in the circuit and they are learning very fast,” he added.

Kepher observed the inclusion of Kenya sevens legend and top try scorer Collins Injera on the technical bench has inspired the side.

“The young players look up to him and he has been a good addition to the bench," said Kepher.
