KCB Sevens coach Andrew Amonde has termed the pooling for the Tisap Sevens next weekend as tricky for his charges as the battle for the overall crown hots up.

The Thika Road side bagged the Christie Sevens tournament last weekend to move within two points of leaders Kabras face Blak Blad, Homeboyz, and Mombasa Sports Club in Pool 'A'.

The former Kenya Sevens skipper said with the race for the overall crown getting tight, he will ask his charges to take one game at a time.

"We will take it one game at a time. The sport of Sevens is unpredictable. The teams we are facing are good and on their day can cause surprises so we must be at our best to navigate the pool,” said Amonde.

Strathmore Leos headline Pool 'B' and have a date with series defending champions Menengai Oilers, Catholic Monks and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

Coach Louis Kisia believes his charges need to take the final step and win a trophy after finishing as runners-up at the Christie sevens.

"We broke the jinx of losing in the semis last time around but now we need to take the next step of winning a leg of the tournament,” said Kisia.

Leaders Kabras Sugar will be aiming to bounce back when they face Quins, Daystar Falcons and Kisumu RFC in Pool 'C'.

Tactician Felix Ayange said the lessons learnt from the semifinal exit at Christie Sevens will be vital for his charges.

“I think we were overconfident. We were too casual, lacked of intensity and errors blighted our game against Strathmore. We have reset and will come back hungry and determined for Eldoret,” said Ayange.

Nakuru RFC will battle it out with Mwamba, Nondies and University of Eldoret Trojans, who bagged the division two title at the Christie Sevens, in Pool 'D'.

Nakuru coach Kennedy Njoroge was satisfied with his side's performance during the Christie Sevens, where they finished fourth, and believes they can match the big sides after a slow start to the campaign.

"We have really come of age since the circuit started and with the momentum of reaching the semis at Christie Sevens, we have a good chance of performing well in Eldoret," he said.
