Lionesses assistant coach Paul Murunga has made seven changes to the squad ahead of their WXV3 clash against Kazakhstan on Saturday in Dubai.

The changes have also affected the starting lineup that succumbed 32-0 to Spain last Saturday.

Maureen Chebet makes her full test debut as she slots into the second row alongside Faith Livoi while Terry Ayesa, replaces Lewin Amazimbi on the wing.

Knight Otuoma, who captained the squad in the 32-0 defeat to Spain, misses out due to an ankle injury and will be replaced by Enid Ouma who will captain the squad.

Ouma starts in the back row, where she will feature alongside Naomi Jelagat and Diana Kemunto.

The other four changes are on the bench, where Grace Okulu, Judith Okumu, Phoebe Akinyi, and Mercy Migongo are all named.

Okulu, Okumu, Akinyi, Ayesa, and Sharon Auma were part of the squad that finished second at last weekend’s Rugby Africa Women’s 7s in Tunisia

The Lionesses' front row remains unchanged with Rose Otieno, Stacy Atieno and Natasha Emali all starting.

The half-back pairing of Diana Omosso and Anne Goretti is again retained for this fixture with Lauraine Akoth partnering Prisca Nyerere in midfield.

On the changes, Murunga said: “We picked a few injuries in the opening match. Faith Liboi  (shin) and Knight Outuoma (ankle) sustained injuries and are out of this weekend's action. Winnie Awino who came off the bench last weekend is out for the rest of the tournament through concussion.”

Speaking on the inclusion of the seven players, Murunga said, “We are happy we have been joined by five of the players who were with the Sevens team in Tunisia.

"We will keep Akinyi, Okulu, and Okumu on the bench.  Terry starts this game replacing Amazimbi who has been rested."

"They may come in later in the second half, reasons being we want to build a consistent team in terms of how they have been training and playing."

The former Kenya Sevens and Under 20 coach said they will be looking at improving at the set-piece and attack.

“We have done our reviews on the match on what went wrong against Spain and we look forward to an improved display in all facets of play," said Murunga.
