Kenya Simbas' skipper George Nyambua believes there is room for improvement ahead of a big Elgon Cup-cum-Victoria Cup showdown against Uganda on Sunday in Kampala.

The national side struggled for long spells against Zambia and despite registering a 36-12 bonus point victory over the opposition on Wednesday,  the Kabras captain attributed it to poor decision-making.

“I am delighted with the win but we have to be sharper and play better against Uganda in attack. I think we were not patient enough and I believe in the next three days, we can fix those areas before the Uganda match,” said Nyambua.

The 36 test cap player said they have to improve in the breakdown, where they conceded several penalties to a Zambia side that failed to capitalise on them.

“Our work at the breakdown was poor. We have to look at getting on the right side of the referee calls but all in all, this being our first match in six months,  there are positives to take and we will be relishing the battle against Uganda on Saturday,” observed Nyambua.

“There are several new faces in his side and it was bound to be tough. I think we will be in good shape on Sunday

The Simbas outscored the Zambians 6-0 with Ephraim Oduor, Joel Inzuga, Jone Kubu, Paul Mutsami, Teddy Akala, and Nyambua scoring a try each.

Kubu kicked over two conversions with Substitute Andrew Matoka slotting one. Kenya led 19-6 at the interval and Kubu was named the 'Man of the Match.

Zambia had lost their opening match 30-8 and are out of contention for the Victoria, leaving the Simbas and Uganda to slug it out for the trophy. The Simbas are using the tournament as preparation for the Currie Cup next year.
