Shujaa faces tough test in Paris Olympics

Pool C features the 2016 and 2020 champions Fiji, hosts France, the USA, and Uruguay.

Shujaa has been pooled alongside World Seven Series champions Argentina, Australia and Samoa in pool B for the 2024 Paris Olympics 7s tournament next month.

Kenya who are making their third consecutive appearance at the global extravaganza in the shorter version of the game face a  stern test in the three-day competition.

Kevin Wambua will be seeking a place on the podium after two unsuccessful tournaments during the event in Rio in 2016 and Tokyo 2020 where they failed to get out of the pool

Defending champions New Zealand, are in Pool A with Ireland, South Africa, and Japan.

Pool C features the 2016 and 2020 champions Fiji, hosts France, the USA, and Uruguay.

The men’s 7s competition will be played between July 24-27, while the women’s tournament will be held from July 28-30.

For the first time, the rugby sevens matches will start two days before the opening ceremony, with the men’s preliminary and quarterfinal stages.

In the women’s competition, the battle will also be fierce with three very competitive pools. Reigning Olympic Champions and sevens series winners Winners New Zealand will be strong contenders and face Fiji, Canada and freshly qualified China in Pool A.

Pool B will also provide fascinating competition with Rio 2016 Olympic champions Australia facing Ireland, Great Britain and debutants South Africa.

Hosts France have been placed in Pool C as one of three top-ranked teams and will look to improve on their silver medal at Tokyo 2020 with pool matches against the USA, Japan and Brazil.

In one month, our sport will have the honour of kicking off Paris 2024 in style with an exciting and spectacular brand of rugby that will excite the hundreds of thousands of fans in Stade de France and capture millions more hearts and minds of those watching around the world.

Rugby sevens is a fantastic engine to grow our sport and on its third Olympic appearance is already proving to be one of the attractions of the Games with record enthusiasm for tickets, mouthwatering rivalries and two strong French national teams hoping to achieve their Olympic dreams on home soil."
