Kenya Harlequins' coach Paul Murunga is wary of the threat posed by Menengai Oilers and Strathmore Leos in the Dala Sevens this weekend in Kisumu

Harlequins face arguably the pool of death that includes Mwamba and the tactician has urged his charges to relish the battle.

“It's a tough pool. The three teams we are facing did not play well at the Kakamega Sevens so we have to be on top of our game from the opening match to ensure we go deep in the tournament," he added.

The Ngong Road side enters the tournament with momentum having won the Kakamega Sevens, where they came from behind to beat KCB 17-12 in sudden death a fortnight ago.

Murunga has urged his charges to continue their fine form having started the series with a loss to Kabras in the Christie Sevens final.

"The boys are in good shape having played two consecutive finals the mentality of the team is to win we have a good crop of players,  depth and hunger so we wait and see what happens in Kisumu,” said Murunga.

The former Kenya sevens and under-20 coach believes his young side have matured in the past 12 months.

“ A year ago, we were making several errors in both attack and defence  but we have learnt their lessons and we are very competitive this season," said Murunga

KCB, who were runners-up in the Kakamega Sevens,  will be aiming to go one place better when they face a revitalised Nondies, Blak Blad Blad and  Homeboyz in Pool B

Kabras are in Pool C and will be up against neighbours Masinde Muliro University of s Science and Technology (MMUST), Stallions and hosts Kisumu RFC. Nakuru RFC play Catholic Monks, Zetech Oaks and Daystar University Falcons in Pool D.
