Kenya Harlequins coach Paul Murunga says they are unfazed by the pressure as the Nationals Sevens Series draws to a close this weekend in Nakuru.

The Ngong' Road outfit requires 14 points or a semifinal place in the Prinsloo Sevens slated for Nakuru to win the circuit after winning the Driftwood last weekend in Mombasa.

Murunga's charges have amassed 97 points with two tournament victories Ingo Sevens in Kakamega and Driftwood as well as reaching the Christie Sevens final, where they lost to Kabras. They also reached the semifinals of the Dala and Kabeberi Sevens

The last time Quins won the overall national series was in 2012 when they had the likes of Eden Agero, current Quins' chairman,  Victor Sudi, former Kenya Sevens international Willy Ambaka, Patrice Agunda and Max Theuri among others.

The mathematical equation favours Quins even if second-placed Kabras and series holders KCB win the final leg.

Speaking on Tuesday, Murunga said they will take one game at a time in the final tournament.

“It's going to be tricky but our focus is one game at a time. We have our target on our back and we must stay humble and focus on the things that have worked for us this season. We must execute well in the final tournament,” said Murunga.

Murunga hailed the mentality of his charges in the last six weeks of competition.

“The never-say-die attitude has worked for the boys. They have put in a shift from the first tournament and they have been consistent throughout the series," he said.

The former Kenya Sevens coach said they have been able to vary their play.  “This team is not one-dimensional. We have been able to mix up with some of the top teams and still play to our strength."

“Everyone will be fighting for a position considering this is the final tournament of the series," added Murunga.
