Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has asked President William Ruto to give former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana a job in his government.

Speaking on Saturday, Mbarire who had accompanied the President to Wote for a fundraiser asked him to consider Kibwana next time he is looking for people to help him run government.

She noted that the former Makueni Governor is a man who means well for his people.

"Nataka kuomba your Excellency, ukiangalia wale watu watakufanyia kazi nzuri kwa serikali yako kutoka huku Ukambani na kutoka huku Makueni, usimsahau Kivutha Kibwana. (I want to ask your Excellency, if you look at those people who will do good work for your government from here in Ukambani and from here in Makueni, don't forget Kivutha Kibwana)

"He is a very good man and he means well for his people," she said.

Governor Mbarire described Kibwana as a brilliant, highly intelligent and humble man who can easily be forgotten because of his humility.

"Professor is a very brilliant man. Highly intelligent. Hard worker and very humble. Kwa sababu ya kuwa humble, it's very easy to forget Kivutha Kibwana kwa sababu hutaona akikusukuma kwa kitu chochote," she said.

Mbarire said Kibwana is the one who mentored her when she worked in civil society.

She added that the former governor, a Law professor is the one who taught her what governance means and what people-centred leadership means.

"Niko na rafiki yangu hapa Makueni wa dhati. Ni rafiki napenda."

Mbarire also called on other leaders from the Ukambani region to work closely with President Ruto to bring development to his people.

She said that despite not receiving many votes from the region, Ruto has shown that he is ready to work for all Kenyans, regardless of their political inclination.

"I want to request the leadership of Makueni, the MPs, the governor and all MCAs, support the national projects his excellency is going to bring to Makueni because he is bringing them for the benefit of the people of Makueni," she said.

"Nimeskia mheshimiwa mmoja hapa akisema hukuchaguliwa sana huku lakini even after that, you have become the president of the entire country. Na umekuja hapa kuonesha watu wa Makueni that you are their president and you are ready to work with them."
