High-flying Nairobi City Thunder assistant coach Sadat Gaya is wary of the threat posed by former champions Ulinzi Warriors.

The two giants meet in an epic Kenya National Basketball League clash at Nyayo Stadium gymnasium today at 8 pm.

“We play an inconsistent Ulinzi team that has been up and down throughout the season,” Gaya noted. “In my experience, this is a dangerous type of team. We are prepared for them but you can never be too prepared. I love our chances against them.”

Leaders Thunder have maximum 34 points from 17 matches. The soldiers are fifth with 24 points, having lost six of their nine games.

Thunder are coming off a hard-fought 78-63 win over Strathmore University Blades while Ulinzi pinned down champions Kenya Ports Authority 61-56 in Mombasa in their last game. The soldiers’ tactician, Bernard Mufutu, said everybody is fit and ready for the big duel.

“We have been training hard and addressing our mistakes in our first leg fixture,” said Mufutu.

Ulinzi team manager Stephen Bartilol said it will be a tough game but they are focused and ready for the battle.

“We respect them considering the signings they made before the season and the fact that they are still unbeaten,” he said.
