The government on Tuesday launched digital number plates at the GSU Recce unit Headquarters in Ruiru, Nairobi.
The new plates will bear additional features some of which shall be visible physically, others only to security agencies.
The new plates will also have inbuilt security features which will help in tracing car ownership thus curbing crime.
The event was attended by CS Ministry of Transport James Macharia, CS Interior Fred Matiang'i and CS ICT Joe Mucheru among others.
Matiang'i said that the work is being done by a multi-agency unit of the security sector and is part of the reforms initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta after the 2019 Dusit attack.
