With the push for more environment friendly agriculture Kenya will be forced to transform this critical sector through technology, industry players have revealed.

Maxim Agri Kenya says that through the provision of quality feeds the agricultural sector will be improving in the country.

According to experts Climate-smart Agriculture when effectively adopted, will enable individuals managing the agricultural systems to respond effectively to the inevitable changes in climate conditions including the unpredictability of rainfall and prolonged droughts that affect farming.

To meet this the firm says it’s at the heart of Kenya's agribusiness landscape, through the provision of quality feeds and inputs.

Maxim Agri Kenya General Manager Obaid ur Rehman says the company will produce aqua feed & cattle feed in phase one of its operations locally having set up the largest aqua feed plant in Kenya.

 "This commitment extends beyond business—it's a pledge to never compromise on the well-being of animals and to deliver the highest quality products to farmers," said Rehman.

Established in November 2007 as a subsidiary of its Dutch holding company, Maxim Agri says it’s looking to provide comprehensive agricultural solutions for Kenyan farmers.

The firm says it’s a catalyst for economic growth, but it has also generated 100 direct jobs within its inaugural year, with plans to expand to 300 direct jobs within three years.

He notes that the company's positive impact extends to the creation of 500 indirect jobs, with a goal of reaching 1200, showcasing its dedication to fostering prosperity in the communities it serves.

Maxim Agri Kenya CEO, Founder, and managing director added that the firm takes pride in being the only dedicated feed company in the country, standing out among competitors who treat feed production as a by-product.

According to WHO report, the continent’s population is expected to double by 2050, meaning it will require enormous effort to feed the people.

The report notes that its time the continent should ditch the hoe in favour of modern technology, and quality inputs which will complete the same tasks far more efficiently.
