The race for the Kenyans customers in the retail space is heating up as industry players align themselves ahead of the festive seasons.
The latest retailer to open an outlet is French supermarket chain Carrefour who have opened a second store in Nairobi's CBD.
The retail franchise, owned by Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim, now has 21 stores, 17 of which are in Nairobi while Kisumu and Mombasa host two stores each.
Carrefour opened its first store in Kenya in 2016.
In a new trend the retailer has ventured into mass markets with Eastleigh, and now the CBD outlet from traditional high-end regions.
“The opening of the new store is a testament to Majid Al Futtaim’s commitment to expanding its presence in the country and investing in the local economy,” said Carrefour Regional Director for East Africa, Christophe Orcet.
With the new store opening, Majid Al Futtaim now operates 21 Carrefour stores countrywide, 17 of which are located in Nairobi, while Kisumu and Mombasa host two stores each.
