Mobile phone penetration as a percentage of population has been rising in the country, reaching 51.8 per cent in 2021 in Somalia, according to World Bank. This is 3.10 per cent less than in the previous year.

Historically, mobile phone penetration as a percentage of population in Somalia has been on rise, reaching  an all time high of 53.5 per cent in 2020 and an all time low of 0.917 per cent in 2000.

Even so, due to poor infrastructure, the county has been ranked 140th within the group of 144 countries we follow in terms of mobile phone penetration as a percentage of population.
