Kenya-based insurtech companymTek has partnered with Workpay to simplify access and enable employees to purchase insurance coverage on the Workpay system.

mTek is a digital insurance platform known for its seamless and convenient access to insurance products, while Workpayspecialises in providing payroll, human resources, and employee benefits management solutions.

The partnership targets  employees whose employers are using Workpay for  HR and  payroll management.

This collaboration comes after the integration of Workpay’s platform, which enhances human resource and payroll processes, with mTek’s digital insurance offerings.

It allows employees and other users of the Workpay platform to easily compare and procure insurance products tailored to their diverse needs spanning motor, health, life, and general insurance options.

Through the collaboration, mTek and Workpay aim to simplify the selection and purchasing process of insurance, making it more affordable, accessible, and efficient for users, mTek CEO Bente Krogmann noted.

“We have seamlessly integrated our platform within the Workpay ecosystem so customers can browse and purchase insurance products within a trusted environment. By leveraging our strengths, mTek and Workpay can expand our reach across Africa, tapping into new markets and customer segments," Krogmann said.

The growth, she said, will not only benefit the two companies but also contribute to the overall development of the insurance and HR/payroll industries in the region.

This enhanced convenience is expected to drive higher insurance penetration rates, particularly among employees who have not previously had the resources or knowledge to secure comprehensive coverage.

“We are excited to partner with mTek to streamline insurance procurement for employers and their employees. This collaboration simplifies administrative processes, leveraging Workpay’s expertise in HR and payroll management to offer tailored insurance products and seamless user experience,” said Edwin Mwangi, chief business officer at Workpay.

“We are also ensuring affordability of insurance products through insurance premium financing available on the Workpay platform. This feature allows businesses and employees to manage their insurance premiums effectively by spreading the costs over time, making comprehensive coverage more accessible to all.”
