KGBS CEO Nasra Nanda said that the two-day event will feature panel discussions, presentations, and workshops focused on urban development, sustainability, and related financial and policy challenges.

“This conference is more than just a gathering; it’s a movement towards a sustainable and inclusive future for our rapidly urbanizing country,” said Ndada.

Sustainable construction in Kenya is gaining momentum as the country looks to address rapid urbanisation and environmental challenges.

The construction industry, a key driver of economic growth, is increasingly adopting eco-friendly practices to reduce its carbon footprint.

There have been efforts to focus on locally sourced, renewable materials, energy-efficient building designs, and integrating green technologies such as solar energy and water management use.

National Construction Authority, Executive Director Maurice Aketch, speaking on behalf of Hon. Alice Wahome, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development, highlighted the conference as a significant step toward integrating sustainable practices in urban development.

Key highlights of the conference include discussions on sustainable housing, energy efficiency, waste management, smart cities, and the National Building Code.

The event will also feature an awards ceremony and a tour of sustainable projects, including Aga Khan University and Roam Electric's E-mobility plant.

The conference report will contribute to shaping Kenya’s approach to sustainability in the built environment, supporting the broader vision of resilient and green African cities.
