Kenya to participate in Russia’s largest agricultural congress

The congress comes at a time that Russia is pushing to increase its presence and influence in Africa.

Kenya will be the Guest of Honor at the ASIAEXPO 2024 International Agricultural Congress, set to take place from October 23 to 25, 2024, in Sochi, Russia.

The event, held alongside the BRICS summit, will showcase Kenya’s agricultural potential and foster closer ties between Kenya and Russia in the agro-industrial sector.

Kenya's participation aims to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the two nations. The country will take part in key discussions, including the “Russia-Africa” roundtable, focusing on international collaboration in agriculture.

The congress comes at a time that Russia is pushing to increase its presence and influence in Africa.

ASIAEXPO 2024 will feature over 200 companies from Russia, China, India, and former Soviet Union states, presenting innovations in crop and livestock production, feed technology, aquaculture, and farm equipment.

The event will span 60,000 square meters, showcasing advancements in animal husbandry, veterinary drugs, and agricultural machinery.

ASIAEXPO CEO Igor Milovanov, said that the congress’s goal to elevate global agriculture, including support for Kenya’s agro-industry through public-private partnerships and technology transfer.

He also indicated that ASIAEXPO2024 is fully committed to supporting the agriculture and livestock sectors in Kenya in particular and in Africa in general through public-private partnerships; transfer of skills in science, technology and innovation and promotion of cooperation with African States to increase agricultural productivity and strengthen nutrition and food security.

Chairperson of the African Peace and Security Union (APSU) Roll Stéphane Ngomat, noted the importance of transforming African agriculture for food security and peace on the continent.

“A prosperous Africa based on inclusive growth and sustainable development is possible thanks to a radical transformation of African agriculture to enable continent to feed itself and to be a major player as a net exporter of food products,” said Ngomat.

Up to 10 countries will send delegations to the event. They include Gabon, Cameroon, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Nigeria, Cape Verde and Mali.

The International Agricultural Congress “ASIAEXPO – 2024” is the largest exhibition and business fair for the agropastoral sector in Russia and in the former member countries of the Soviet Union which allows debate on the current state of sector and its future development, its trends, to sign partnership agreements and contracts.

Nineteen (19) key areas will be presented: including veterinary practices, animal feed and food additives, agricultural machinery, plant protection products, fertilizers and much more.

 “It will be a real business program, the most powerful, a large-scale exhibition and an exciting agricultural cooperation program.

ASIAEXPO 2024 will offer a platform for exchanging expertise, signing partnerships, and advancing the agro-industrial sector worldwide. Attendees from over 50 countries are expected to join.
