AAR Hospital has opened a new pediatric centre and specialised clinics to cater to the growing demand for healthcare services in the Nairobi metropolitan area.
The expansion includes state-of-the-art surgical theaters aimed at improving accessibility to advanced medical care. AAR Hospital CEO Dr. Aysha Edwards, says that the hospital is targeted towards the middle class, who will pay more.
"The focus is on offering high-quality care that also attracts higher-income individuals. We aim to serve diverse demographics," said Edwards.
Located in Muthaiga North along Kiambu Road, the Level Five hospital serves a wide area, including Nairobi, Kiambu, parts of Kajiado such as Rongai, Kitengela, Athi River, and Ngong, as well as Machakos County suburbs like Syokimau and Katani.
The expansion is part of a broader strategy to address increasing healthcare needs, particularly for children. In January, AAR Hospital launched specialist pediatric service clinics, providing services such as regular check-ups, vaccinations, and health screenings for early diagnosis and treatment of childhood diseases.
The decision to enhance pediatric services comes amid a rise in cases of childhood illnesses, congenital disorders, and developmental delays. Medical experts emphasize that early intervention significantly improves long-term health outcomes.
Previously, the hospital’s pediatric services were limited, but the newly introduced clinics offer specialized care in areas such as dermatology, nephrology, gastroenterology, neonatology, neurology, haemato-oncology, surgery, ENT, cardiology, endocrinology, and nutrition.
Beyond pediatrics, the hospital says it is also investing in affordable treatment options for chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.
"We also offer reasonable pricing for advanced care, ensuring accessibility for a broader range of patients compared to hospitals that focus primarily on high-end, expensive treatments. This attracts patients seeking quality care without the premium costs that some competitors might charge for specialized treatments," said Dr Aysha.
