He had accepted a bribe to vote against the decision of the majority in a recent matter, only for him to be exposed during a strategy meeting. Our mole whispers that the man had received a hefty amount to change his mind. Fearing severe repercussions from either side, the panicked politico switched off his mobile phones and hid in his house. But his colleagues were undeterred. They went after him. Mheshimiwa was forced to return the money.

Anxiety is building in a county in Rift Valley after word went out that some 1,000 employees are set to be fired. An insider whispered to Corridors of Power that the targeted staff were illegally hired at the onset of devolution. The employees are, however, reading politics in the matter as the governor did not sack them during his first term in office. Why is he going after them as he completes his tenure? They believe the county boss’s fear then was that mass sackings would have turned political and dented his 2022 re-election bid. Now, he has no such worries.

The county boss is said to have targeted MCAs who are financially thirsty and crippled and greased their palms handsomely to abandon the push for his removal. But some observers of county politics say the impeachment plot could have been a ploy by the MCAs to make a killing from the governor.

The events have reportedly sent shockwaves in the agency’s ranks, as many employees fear the long arm of the law could soon catch up with them as well.
