ICT PS Jerome Ochieng has challenged Kenyan businesses to adopt and stick to new technology for smooth running of their operations.

The PS said the ‘new normal’ is here to stay and only flexible organisations will remain relevant, going into the future.

Speaking during the launch of an E-learning platform by African Centre for Women Information and Communication Technology (ACWICT) on Friday, the PS further reiterated Kenya’s strides in digital transformation hence improving its ranking among African countries.

“There is no doubt that to stay competitive in this new business and economic environment, organisations need to adopt new strategies and practices with technology at the forefront," the PS said.

"The role of technology has been brought into greater focus during the pandemic and I am pleased to learn that the Africa Centre for Women Information and Communications Technology has adopted technology to as a primary strategy to pursue its mandate and objectives,” she added.

Ochieng said some of these changes may be temporary while many others may be fundamental and long term.

A recent study by McKinsey showed that the responses to the pandemic have accelerated the adoption of digital technologies by several years.

The African Centre for Women Information and Communication Technology is a Kenyan-based ICT for development organization that promotes women and youth access to and knowledge of ICTs as tools for sustainable development.

On Friday, the organisation launched a cost-effective e-learning solution to enable its members integrate a different model of sharing knowledge virtually. The programme will also provide learners with an auto-generated certificate that will rapidly increase skill validation and expedite their transition to the job and entrepreneurial space.
