UDA brigade has said Deputy President William Ruto will beat his opponents with more than 70 per cent of the total votes in August.

Led by Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, they said UDA and Kenya Kwanza have rapidly gained support in many parts of the country.

They spoke on Saturday while on the campaign trail in Kirinyaga county.

Gachagua said it is time ODM leader Raila Odinga retired from active politics.

“We believe Ruto will be our next president and shall win with 70 plus one per cent of the total votes despite all the frustrations he has been subjected to in almost five years under the present government,” he said.

Gachagua said the President has been short-changing DP Ruto, an action he said has adversely affected Mt Kenya residents.

“Even after having overwhelmingly voted for him three times, the President now wants to force a Raila presidency on us and that we shall not accept,” he said.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro said the president has been using intimidation to frustrate some leaders and investors in the Mount Kenya region.

“Just as he is willing to give details of his falling out with his deputy, we also want the president to be accountable and explain why his administration has been punishing Mt Kenya leaders and investors using state agencies.”

“Does it mean that we are the only Kenyans who are not following the law?” he posed.

Governor Anne Waiguru said she will continue serving the people wholeheartedly if elected for a second term.

She urged residents to vote for DP Ruto as the next head of state.

Other leaders present included Starehe MP Charles Njagua, county assembly majority leader Kamau Murango, Baragwi MCA David Mathenge and Kirinyaga county UDA aspirants.
