Outgoing Migori Governor Okoth Obado has told the Luo community not to listen to those peddling lies against president-elect William Ruto.
He said those saying Ruto will frustrate people from the region and not have development projects in the area, are lying.
Obado who spoke on Wednesday during an interview with one of the local radio stations (Radio Namlolwe) said Ruto will work for all and roll out development just like in other regions, without bias.
"Ruto is not a bad person hence we should not have any fear that while at the seat, he will frustrate our people," he said.
The outgoing governor said Ruto stood with the community in 2007 when Raila vied for the presidency and he was ready to die for that.
"I have known him for years and I want to assure you that he can't frustrate our people," he said.
Obado said there are people from the community that are in Kenya Kwanza Alliance, who will make sure the people's needs are raised and met.
"If you have eggs, you don't put them in one basket. You divide them into different baskets and that's what we did. Our people in Kenya Kwanza will look at our issues as a community and ensure they are addressed," he said.
The outgoing governor said in every election, there must only be one winner and others don't end up lucky.
He however said it is important to maintain peace, tolerance and desist from violence or insults.
Obado said it is unfortunate that there were some reports that some youths broke into various businesses and places.
"In every election, when people have voted and there is something bad, there are various avenues to address such," he said.
Ruto after being declared the president-elect said he will work for all Kenyans and serve them all equally.
He said his government will go out of the way to deliver their pledges.
