Six former MCAs were re-elected in Kisumu after they lost their seats in the 2017 elections.
James Were (Nyalenda B), Moses Ochele (East Kano/Wawidhi), James Omollo (West Nyakach), Kelvin Oraro (Kolwa Central), Nereah Okombo (Manyatta B) and Pamela Oyoo (Migosi) all failed to defend their seats in 2017 after they were elected in 2013.
But they bounced back during the August 9 elections with victories over their rivals.
Of the 35 ward reps who were elected in 2017, only nine retained their seats.
Seth Kanga (Market/Milimani), Joakim Oketch (Kondele), Gard Olima (South West Nyakach), Habil Nyasuna (Masogo/ Nyang'oma), Seth Okumu (East Seme), Vincent Jagongo (North West Kisumu), Maurice Ngeta (Awasi/Onjiko) and Oiko Pete (Kabonyo Kanyagwal) all succefully defended their seats.
Jennifer Obonyo (South West Kisumu) who served as nominated MCA ran and won on the ODM ticket.
All candidates who won during the ODM primaries emerged victorious except in Kobura ward where independent candidate Billy Odhiambo won.
