Kirinyaga county residents on Monday joined other Kenyans in celebrating the supreme court judgement which upheld president- elect William Ruto's victory.
Led by Kerugoya ward MCA elect Eric Muchina ,the residents praised the judges for their fortitude in unanimously affirming Ruto's win.
Muchina said the win will set in motion the very much needed hard work that needs to be channelled into transforming the country.
He exuded confidence that a Ruto's administration will deliver on its pledges of empowering the common mwananchi through the bottom -up economic model.
He praised Ruto for demonstrating endurance and emerging victorious despite the existence of a formidable opposition that stood on his way.
"We are thankful that finally the electioneering season is coming to an end successfully. Against all odds, our captain won in a very toxic political environment characterized by harassment, intimidation and blackmail. Moving forward, we look forward to serving Kenyans on different elective positions," said.
Gladys Nyachoba ,a Kerugoya resident thanked the court for upholding Ruto's win saying she was optimistic that it could do so.
"We came out in large numbers to vote in Ruto and Gachagua. I'm glad the court respected our decision."
She called on the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition team to accept the court's decision and cooperate with the incoming government to build the nation.
"We urge Karua and her team to give an opportunity to the incoming government to deliver on its pledges. We in Kirinyaga have supported her leadership all along and the time has come for her and her team to support Ruto's government."
Sophia Wanjiru, another local hailed Ruto's win saying it is a well-deserved victory for the common wananchi.She further lauded IEBC chair Wafula for overseeing polls.
Dennis Magondu another Kirinyaga resident now called on the Ruto-Gachagua administration to prioritize on lowering the high cost of living which has since become unbearable for many ordinary Kenyans.
He further urged Kenyans to put politics behind them and unite peacefully in the spirit of moving Kenya forward.
