Kisumu shines after producing third best student with 429 marks

Good result attributed to teachers, parents and learners' hard work and commitment

Golden Elites School of Kisumu posted excellent results, producing the third candidate, Keith Ochieng who scored 429 marks.

He was ranked the third best student nationally. It was joy among teachers, parents and pupils immediately after the release of KCPE exam results by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu yesterday.

Ochieng, the second born in the family of three, wants to join Alliance High School. He aspires to become a neurosurgeon.

He targets to treat brain disorders once he becomes a neurosurgeon.

His parents, Kennedy Ochieng and Solrei Akinyi said Ochieng has been a disciplined boy and they were expecting him to perform well.

The school director Charles Ochome and principal Joan Ochome were impressed that over 25 scored 400 and above, 13 had 390, 10 over 380 and 19 scored 379 and above.

"We are happy with this year's results and thank God for the good performance," Ochome said.

Out of the 110 candidates who sat for the KCPE exam, 25 candidates scored over 400 marks. 

They lauded teachers, pupils and parents for the excellent performance. 

"The results are very impressive and we are proud of it. This is a great improvement compared to last year," Ochome said.

A total of 13 candidates scored 390 marks while 10 and 19 got 380 and 370 marks respectively. 

Last year, the school had 79 candidates and attained a mean score of 384. 

Celebrations also rocked Xaverian Primary School after posting good results in the 2022 KCPE exam with top pupil having scored 423 marks.

The school head teacher George Polo said more than 20 candidates scored over 400 marks. He said 233 candidates sat for the exam as compared to 229 in the 2021.

Polo said they had a targeted mean score of 360 which they hope to achieve once they get all the results. Last year, the school had 18 candidates scoring more than 400 marks. 

"We are very happy with the improvement in our results.   It is very encouraging and I am proud of our pupils, teachers and parents for the hard work and support that has seen the good performance," Polo said. 

He praised teachers and parents for their continued support and commitment that has resulted in the excellent performance. 

"Our teachers, parents and pupils were very hard working. We are looking forward to having our pupils admitted to better schools," he added.

Polo added that they were pleased with the results so far received as they continue to stream in. Parents lauded the schools posting good results. 

At MM Shah Primary School, 11 candidates scored more than 400 marks with two emerging top tying at 412 marks. They are Jacob Jeremy Oduor and Lewis Amolo.

Okoth said they were highly impressed with the results and noted that by time of going to press, the school had received results of 67 candidates out of the 346. 

The school head teacher Michael Oriedi said they have improved in their performance and lauded the teachers and pupils for hard work. 

He attributed the good results to teamwork from the teachers, parents and pupils.

Last year, the school had five candidates who scored more than 400 marks.

Celebrations was also witnessed at Victoria Primary School in Kisumu which posted an improved performance in this year's exams.

The school head teacher Edward Omala said 10 students who sat the test in the school had 400 marks and above.

Raynell Chepkemoi emerged top candidate in the school with 422 marks. She was followed by Hazael Rachier at 411 marks.

Omala said the school was poised to  record an increased mean score from the previous 345 in the 2021 KCPE exam.

He attributed the good performance to the cooperation between parents as well as hard work among teachers and the pupils.

"We thank God for the good performance recorded in the exams. It has come as a result of the teachers' exemplary work and support from the parents," he said.

There were also celebrations at Pandpieri Primary School which also performed  exemplarily in the test. 

Headteacher Alex Diang'a said the school produced over 30 candidates with 350 marks and above and several others with over 300 marks. 

A total of 139 candidates sat for KCPE exam in the school. Other top performers in Kisumu are Arya Primary School who produced a candidate, Zilpa Niki Onyango with 412 marks. At Hekima School, Nigel Ciqala scored 421 marks.
