National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wa on Saturday claimed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is the principal sponsor of the Azimio la Umoja planned demos.
Ichung’wa alleged that Uhuru while acting behind the scenes is funding the demos orchestrated by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking at the Kianyaga Boys High School in Kirinyaga county, during an alumni meeting.
Ichung’was aid the protests are part of a bigger plan by the former President to destabilise the current regime.
He claims Uhuru is still in denial and is finding it hard to come to terms with the Kenya Kwanza victory.
“It’s high time you accept that Ruto who was once your deputy and Rigathi who was once your personal assistant are now the President and the Deputy President of Kenya respectively,"Ichung’wa said.
“If you still assume they are your juniors you better wake up to reality and the earlier for you, the better. You can do absolutely nothing to stop them from governing the country."
Raila has rubbished those claims saying the mass action movement is being sponsored by wananchi themselves.
In an interview with media houses on Saturday, Raila said the public barazas are fully funded by the people.
"These protests have not been funded by one specific individual. It is funded by the citizens themselves. No one has such a huge amount of money to be able to foot the expenses of the movement." he said.
Ichungwa further called out Uhuru saying he is to be blamed for the ‘unruliness’ of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
“Through your political pettiness and with the sole intention of blocking your deputy from rising to the presidency you resuscitated the kitendawili man’s political career despite us having thrashed him in the 2017 election. You're not God and we told you that we shall not worship you but we will respect you,” he said.
Ichung’wa said that it is irresponsible of the Azimio to incite Kenyans over the high cost of living while they have a hand in the current economic mess in the country.
“Who took the cost of living where it is today if it is not the handshake regime under Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga? Stop inciting Kenyans and allow Ruto and Rigathi to fix the economy which you made a mess of because they have a clear plan on how to revive the economy you left in a deep hole,” he said.
Naivasha MP Jane Kihara urged Uhuru to tell Kenyans his position on the Azimio Monday demo.
She also condemned Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua saying she has no moral authority to demand the opening of IEBC servers yet she deliver little vote to her political faction in the August 9 polls.
Othaya MP Wambugu Wainana said they don't fear the Monday demos and they are ready to protect the city businesses.
Nyeri Town MP Dan Maina said Kenyans also have a right to the safeguarding of their properties despite the right to picket being enshrined in the constitution.
Juja MP George Koimburi dared Raila to gazette Monday as a public holiday if he is brave enough.
Njoroge Wainaina from Kieni called on Kenyans to show up at work on Monday and keep doing their normal activities as all will be well.
Several governors, senators, MPs, women reps and MCAs were also in attendance during the event where Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was the chief guest.
