Some leaders from Kisumu have taken to the streets, in solidarity with protesters across the lakeside city.
Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathew Owili and Seme MP James Nyikal have joined hundreds of protesters in the streets on Thursday morning as Azimio One Kenya Coalition holds its third anti-government demo.
Owili and Nyikal were seen on top of their cars while huge crowds of residents accompanied them, some on foot and others on motorbikes.
This comes after Governor Anyang Nyong'o retracted his early move to ban protests in the county on Wednesday.
"All public demonstrations within Kisumu County have from today been suspended indefinitely so that we can join demonstrations in Nairobi," Nyong'o said.
He said hooligans had infiltrated the demonstrations destroying property and harassing innocent members of the public.
But in a hasty retreat, Nyong'o convened a press conference at Kisumu City Hall where he made a U-turn on his earlier order.
