At least five people were injured on Monday evening in fresh violent boda boda skirmishes in Kisii.
Two victims suffered severe machete injuries and were rushed to separate health facilities for emergency medical attention.
Police in Nyanchwa were forced to shoot in the air to disperse the warring groups as they squared out in open fields in Nyanchwa, part of Kitutu Chache South at 3 pm.
The office associated with Fred Nunda, the rival group leader was allegedly ransacked and destroyed by the goons.
"We don't know the exact motive because we were holding a meeting in the office with a few other members who wanted loans when they attacked us," Nunda told the Star.
Other riders associated with him at Omosocho, Chitinga and Stage Plaza were also attacked.
At Omosocho, a motorbike was destroyed while two were smashed at the Chitinga bodaboda shed.
Nunda said the suspects also destroyed furniture and record books at the office.
"They broke the doors and windows, they also smashed a computer," Nunda said.
John Keromo, a witness claimed that at least 100 boda boda riders went around hunting any rider associated with Nunda.
At least four suspects have since been seized and locked up at Nyanchwa police station, an officer told the Star.
Subcounty police boss Anthony Keter was not available to comment on the matter.
Calls to his phone also went unanswered.
