Trans Nzoia government will revive and complete all stalled projects initiated under former county boss Patrick Khaemba, Governor George Natembeya has said.

Natembeya also said more than 2,000 youths  in the county would benefit from the government internship programmes beginning July this year.

He said his administration had committed to work with all elected political leaders especially MCAs and other community leaders for the benefit of residents.

The governor said he was pleased by MCAs in the region for their cooperative approach to working with his administration so that together they  jump start development projects which had delayed or stalled in the county.

He said funds allocated to each of the 30 wards would go a long way in improving livelihoods of the people of Trans Nzoia.

“As leaders we have no option but work together in serving our people because that is what we were elected to do. I am happy that all our MCAs have agreed that we must work as a team to implement projects and programmes to benefit our people,” Natembeya said.

Speaking at St Peter's Simatwet Catholic church in Waitaluk in Kiminini Sunday, Natembeya there was need to accord more young people in the county  opportunity to serve on internship programmes.

Another 2,000 youths, the governor revealed would be absorbed under the Kazi Mtaani Programme.

Waitaluk MCA Furaha Lusweti who was present asked the governor to intervene and ensure local industries also absorb unemployed youth in the region.

Natembeya urged the private sector to partner with the government in ensuring more young people benefited from such opportunities. “Beginning next July we are going to recruit 2,000 young people to serve in various sectors of our economy on internship," the governor said.

Lusweti who accompanied the governor said MCAs had resolved to collaborate with Natembeya to realise development in the county. He cautioned politicians not to advance the agenda of political divisions in the county that is cosmopolitan.

Several projects initiated by Khaemba stalled or remained incomplete before he left office last year. They include the Sh2 billion Kitale Referral and Teaching hospital which Natembeya plans to complete.

Natembeya has already operationalised the new Kitale bus park which was started but was left incomplete during Khaemba’s regime.
