Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has urged all patriotic Kenyans to rise up in their numbers and redeem the Country from what she termed as economic oppression.

The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya deputy captain claimed that the social vide is being orchestrated by President William Ruto’s administration.

Karua termed as insensitive and callous failure by the Kenya Kwanza administration to address the high cost of living that she said has adversely affected a majority of Kenyans.

She in that regard called on them to overwhelmingly support and join in the signature drive that was Friday launched by ODM leader Raila Odinga which is geared to remove President William Ruto from power.

“We will not watch them take our country down the drain. Through the signature collection, we intend to liberate our country from economic plunder and insensitive corrupt leadership which continue mocking Kenyans through raising the cost of living in order to cater for their spend thrift lifestyles,'' she said.

She regretted that a majority of Kenyans could barely afford basic needs and as such noted that a time had come when Kenyans needed to be responsible patriots by exercising their constitutional power in order to defend their social and economic rights.

Karua added that sovereignty belongs to the citizens and as such they have the right to demand responsibility and good governance from the leaders it hands leadership positions.

She said that any government that does not understand the needs of its people and how to resolve them is a fake government that needs to be sent packing.

“Picketing to get your rights, especially the right to buy food at affordable prices is not a crime, It is a constitutional right. They should not therefore mock Kenyans because of putting cooking pots in their heads. They are doing so because they have no food to put in them,” she said.

In a scathing speech which she directed to Ruto’s administration, Karua decried that the high taxation imposed on basic goods is proof enough that the current administration has its priorities upside down.

She added that it was equally in bad taste and beats the leadership logic of president Ruto to financially continue burdening ordinary with corruption and spending spree.

Karua cited the bloated executive, foreign trips and heavy auto machines that have been carrying senior government officials while crisscrossing the country as a confirmation that the current economic situation is 'manufactured.'

Karua said any responsible government should subsidise the cost of basic goods in the event of a soaring high cost of living.

At the same time the former Gichugu MP said the government should look for workable ways to seal the loopholes through which public funds leak.

“They have been unable to fix the issue of corruption and have now resorted to rewarding their friends in positions that have been declared unconstitutional. If they indeed claim that there is no money, why then is there wanton wastage of public funds to purchase fleets of luxurious vehicles and choppers for senior officials? ”she posed.

Speaking in Difathas in Kirinyaga, Karua at the same time accused the Ruto administration of leadership deficiency saying they lack the ability to correct the mess the country is in.

She at the same time said that the president is exhibiting cowardice and has no courage to face Kenyans thus his absence from the country.

“They have now become crybabies whose work is pulling the same old narrative of how they found the country in a terrible state. Kenyans gave you the job to lead and make it better but not blame games,” she said.

On his part Kirinyaga Jubilee party chairman Muriithi Kang’ara said the high cost of living was a demonstration that the government cared less about its people and as such Kenyans should guard their rights against being exploited by a selfish few.
