Nyanza UDA officials defend Owalo over State appointments

Those who spoke defended their appointments saying it was on merit.

A section of UDA officials from Nyanza Region who have since been appointed to various to state agencies have lashed out at their counterparts over claims that ICT CS Eliud Owalo fronted names of ODM party loyalists for appointments.

The grassroots officials condemned utterances by a section of some UDA members that some of the appointments were done unprocedurally and not based on merit.

A section of the members had claimed that some party members were rewarded with state appointments in various positions yet those who toiled for the party were left behind.

Fredrick Siengo who was a coordinator in Migori and now a Director at the Postal corporation termed the accusation as a fallacy that does not hold any water.

Siengo said the President and his team knew those who served on the ground and as far as they were concerned.

"This should be a warning shot to all people who mascarade as UDA members while condemning the presidential appointments. We now want to believe that these were moles in the party and who now coming out to give their true character and being misused by other parties."

He added that they do not tolerate anybody who wants to come with a divisive agenda to scuttle their vision for 2027 which they are focused on.

His counterpart from Homabay Odek Odek now a director at Utali College claimed some of the people coming out to complain were nowhere to be seen during campaigns and struggled to ensure UDA gets votes within the region

He claimed some of those people were being used by other parties to scuttle their unity as UDA members in the region.

"For those who stood with UDA and the President genuinely, I want to ask you to exercise patience because more appointments are still being done even until last week when one of our own got appointed so remain calm," he said.

According to Waore Dianga, who is currently the chairman of Lake Basin Development Authority, the positions given out were well intended.

"Some of us claiming they were not appointed to various positions. Should have applied for the post, which most did not hence the jobs were given to the people who applied, qualified and deserved the post."

He said the government was now working for the people of Kenya and not only UDA members hence people must exercise patience.

Beatrice Oranga a director at Labour Social Protection noted that such utterance should not be entertained addig that she was appointed based on merit.
