A set of identical twins has become the pride of their family after posting top grades in the recently released KCSE results.

The two brothers who were schooling at Pioneer School were among the four who scored grade A, leading a pack of 263 candidates.

Jason and Jesse Kamwaro scored 84 and 82 points respectively and as fate would have it, both plan to pursue computer science in universities.

The two however told journalists that it is not the first time that they have scored almost similar marks saying it has been a trend since they were in primary school.

In KCPE, for example, the two scored 407 and 409 marks and proceeded to join the same high school.

As expected, the twins chose the same subjects and though they were not in the same class, would perform similarly throughout their high school.

“I scored 82 points and my brother got 84 points. We both want to pursue the same course at Strathmore University,” Jesse said.

On his part, Jason said many of their peers were surprised by their performances as when one did well, they both did and when one failed, it was like they had both decided to fail.

“I am glad that our hard work has paid off and we have both done well,” he said, noting that their ambition is to be software engineers in big-tech companies such as Netflix and Google.

Their parents could not hide their joy and praised them for their hard work and determination to perform well.

Their mother Esther Wangechi said it was not a surprise that they had posted similar grades as it has been a common occurrence in their lives.

“Sometimes, they would score the same marks. They have been very consistent and disciplined. We pray that they continue that way into their future,” she said.

The school’s deputy principal Daniel Mwaura said the school had over 200 candidates attain university joining grades.

Mwaura also presented awards of up to Sh100,000 for each of the four students who scored A as part of a motivation programme facilitated by the school’s director Peter Munga.

About 16 others who scored A- received Sh20,000 each. About 38 other students scored B+, 44 B and 52 B-.

Other academic giants in the county excelled including Murang’a High School which had 16 A, 66 A-, 99 B+, 108 B, 62 B- and 33 C+ out of a candidature of 413.

Njiiris Boys High School had 526 candidates out of whom three had A, 45 had A-, 67 had B plus, 105 had B, 91 had B- and 111 had C+.
