Roads and Transport CS Kichumba Murkomen has emphasized the importance of education and infrastructure development as effective strategies for addressing insecurity.

Murkomen highlighted these factors as crucial contributors to economic empowerment, asserting that they have the potential to significantly reduce insecurity or eliminate it altogether.

Speaking on Saturday, Murkomen, acknowledging the responsibility of leaders, expressed the need to put an end to long-standing banditry and insecurity attacks in the Kerio Valley region.

"As leaders, it is our responsibility to put an end to the long-standing banditry and insecurity attacks in the Kerio Valley region,” he said on Saturday," he said

Murkomen emphasized that supporting education empowerment initiatives in regions affected by banditry and cattle rustling, such as the Kerio Valley and others across the country, is essential to achieving this goal.

The CS delivered these remarks in Baringo County during a thanksgiving ceremony celebrating Rebecca Lomong's recent accomplishment of earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Gender and Development Studies. Murkomen commended Lomong, a board member of the Kenya Airports Authority and a community leader, for her positive impact on the youth in the region and the country as a whole.

The ceremony was attended by various leaders, including his colleague CS Simon Chelugui, KAA board chairman Caleb Kositany, Baringo Senator William Cheptumo, MPs Jackson Kosgei (nominated) and Joseph Makilap (Baringo North).
