Over 4,000 students from Nyakach constituency have benefited from bursary worth Sh26.3 million issued by area MP Aduma Owuor's office.
Nyakach Constituency office manager Sylvance Ocholla said the beneficiaries are students in colleges, university and Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) centres from across the constituency.
Ocholla said the money released covers the 2023-24 financial year.
He said this was long overdue because as an office, they had expected the funds to be released on time but there were delays.
"We want to thank the parents, students and the various stakeholders for being patient with us during this period and now we are welcoming all students who made their applications to come and confirm with the office," Ocholla said.
The manager added that they were still waiting for Sh23 million to be disbursed by the government which will be released soon.
He said they had already released Sh4 million that catered for the full scholarships of students.
"Immediately the money is released, the students will receive them as they come," he said.
According Elizabeth Abonyo, Center Manager Obange Vocational Training Centre, the disbursement of the funds is a huge relief to most of the parents whose children are within different learning institutions.
She said most of the learners cannot afford even registration fees hence the bursaries will be a plus to them.
"Most of our funding comes from the county government which sometimes delays and when the bursary for Nyakach came early, we saw it as a blessing because this is going to greatly help them," the centre manager said.
