President William Ruto’s supporters have staged peace demonstrations in Eldoret town to counter the Tuesday’s Finance Bill protests.
They carried placards calling for peace and urging the GEN Zs not to stage any more protests.
An elder in the group Benjamin Leting said the GEN Zs protests had been hijacked by people seeking to allegedly overthrow the government.
“We fully stand with the president and urge him to take full measures to stabilize the country," said Leting.
The Ruto supporters had earlier matched to the Uasin Gishu county government where they performed traditional peace prayers.
The county headquarters was heavily affected by Tuesday's protests as a court and several vehicles were torched.
The Ruto supporters then matched to Juma Haji junction along Ronald Ngala street where protesters had recently uprooted UDA party wheelbarrow symbols.
At the junction, they also performed peace prayers and drank milk popularly known locally as Mursik as a sign of peace.
At some point, traders panicked and closed their shops fearing looting but some of the Ruto supporters dashed to the traders urging them to continue with business as usual.
“We are here because we want peace and not the chaos we witnessed”, said another leader of the group Joseph Kiptoo
