Juja MP George Koimburi.

Juja MP George Koimburi now says his life is in danger after he alleged, without providing any evidence, that MPs were given Sh2 million to vote for the now withdrawn Finance Bill 2024.

The MP says that since he voted against the bill, proponents of the  law have been threatening him daily, adding that suspicious individuals have been trailing him.

The lawmaker said that he voted against the bill because it would have allowed corrupt dealings and contained clauses that would have further oppressed the already financially distressed Kenyans.

Speaking at Nyacaba Primary School in Witeithia ward after commissioning newly renovated classrooms and lavatories, Koimburi said he will record a statement with police detailing the individuals who have been trailing and insulting him.

"Since I voted no to the Finance Bill, I began receiving threats from leaders, especially those we've been elected together in Kiambu. I shall not be intimidated. I will continue to speak the truth and unearth corrupt dealings in government. Do your worst, but I will continue to represent my people of Juja," he said.

The MP urged President William Ruto to fire more top government officials.

"You fired your ministers in your fight against corruption and to better the leadership of your government. In the same direction, do the same to PSs to form the government that Kenyans desire," he said.

Koimburi lauded President Wiliam Ruto for dismissing his Cabinet Secretaries, whom he said were a thorn in the side of the Kenya Kwanza government and urged him to replace them with competent professionals with untainted history.

He pleaded with the President to allocate 50 per cent of the Cabinet slots to youths, saying that the move would quell the acrimony that’s currently being witnessed in the country.

The MP, alongside his Githunguri counterpart Gathoni Wamuchomba, are the only legislators from Kiambu who defied the UDA party position and shot down the contentious bill that has since been rejected by Ruto following protests that resulted in deaths and destruction of property.
