Police are investigating a Saturday night break-in at the Department of Roads offices at Public Works building in Nairobi.
The unknown thugs stole cash and other valuables, police said.
Guards manning the building noticed the break-in long after it had happened.
Two major offices, including the office of the PS State Department of Roads Joseph Mbugua on the 10th floor were broken into.
A safe in Mbugua's office was also broken and contents stolen.
It is not clear what was stolen from the safe which was later dumped it in the kitchen.
Office of the Chief Financial Officer on the 11th floor was also broken into. It is not clear what was stolen.
Detectives visited the scene and processed it as part of the probe.
Police said those behind the incident knew what they wanted and had prior information.
The PS did not respond to our queries by the time of going to press.
Roads Ministry is one of the most crucial and heavily funded since it handles many multi-billion projects.
